Vicki-Louise Sherwin, who has raised over £4,500 for Lakelands Hospice, was named Young Fundraiser of the year and Junior Shining Star 2015 at a recent awards ceremony held by Macy’s Memory. Vicki and Charlie raised the money by staging several concerts and they are already planning their next one.
Vicki-Louise, from Year 9, said: ‘I organise the concerts with my friend, Charlie Botting. Our most recent one was on 19 April and we raised over £1,000 and had Classical Reflection from The Voice there. They performed, posed for pictures and met people. It made me feel quite proud that I had managed to raise the money for the hospice alongside Charlie and that it was able to make a difference to the community.’
Macy’s Memory is a local charity that raises funds to help terminally ill children and their families and they presented 17 awards at the ceremony to mark the achievements of local people. Vicki-Louise said: ‘It was a really good night and all ticket sales went to support Macy’s Memory.’
