The Brooke Weston triathlon team have just completed their first training session in specially branded T-shirts. They were part subsidised by Parents in Partnership and feature a specially designed logo. The shirts have given the Sixth Formers a team identity as they train as part of the IEC curriculum on Wednesday afternoons. 26 of them regularly take part in cycling, swimming and running sessions with the intensity and activities changing weekly so that they build up stamina in each of the three disciplines.
Mr Clasper plans and takes part in all of the sessions. He said: ‘The students have definitely made significant progress with their fitness levels. During the first session we just ran from Brooke Weston to Oakley Vale school and stopped there for a break. Now we are at the point where we run to the swimming pool for an hour and then run back. Now we are running to Lodge Park, doing an hour spin session on a bike to work on our maximum heart rates and then are running back. It was very generous of Parents in Partnership to donate money to have the T-shirts professionally produced and the students are really pleased with them.’
