Students heard the inspirational story of Hannah Kennedy Jackson who had overcome adversity and an extremely troubled childhood to become successful, both academically and professionally.
Hannah’s talk ‘A journey to success’ gave an honest and unflinching account of her childhood, from living with a physically abusive parent, through to bullying issues, low achievement at school and how she became homeless at the age of 14 and had to fend for herself, living in a run-down caravan with no electricity, gas or water.
Hannah’s life was changed beyond recognition by the intervention and inspiration of a new head-teacher at her school. Hannah spoke about how her life and grades were completely turned around and how the lessons from her story can be translated into anyone’s life in order to help them boost their life chances. She now works as a professional motivational speaker across the UK and has inspired hundreds of people.
After her presentation she met with a series of our students in order to give them one to one support and guidance. Vice Principal Mr Strickland said: ‘Hannah’s story was very emotional and it gave our students an insight into how people can turn their lives around, no matter what obstacles are facing them. It was a very powerful and heartfelt message of hope and transformation.’
