Three of our students, John McGrady, Andrea Lupton and Kelan Atkinson appeared on a recent episode of The One Show when celebrity chef Tom Kitchin visited Corby to commemorate Burns Night.
Filming took place in the town centre as well as the Grampian Club. John and Kelan played bagpipes with the Grampian Pipe Band while Andrea performed traditional Scottish dances. John said: ‘I have been playing for about three years. At the start it takes quite a while to get going because you need a lot of air to begin with, but then it gets easier. At the moment there is about 20 in our pipe band. Kelan and I were also recorded sampling the haggis that had been made at a local butchers. It was strange seeing yourself on television.’
Andrea said: ‘I was quite nervous at first but I have danced on TV before for a feature on Burns Night. It took about 45 minutes to film and I just pretended the cameras weren’t there. I have been dancing for about 11 years. I love how energetic the dancing is and how it keeps me fit.’
