Former student Bianca Harker gets away with murder in her new job as a senior events co-ordinator. She works for Murder Experts, a local company that runs murder mystery experiences nationwide. She landed the job after studying for a Performing Arts degree at Liverpool and says that her drama experience at Brooke Weston paved the way for her current career:
‘People ask what I do and I say I murder for a living! I studied drama here and I loved it. It has formed an integral part of my career now. The majority of our work is done in hotels, or sometimes on boats or trains, however we also do private events like birthdays or corporate parties. Over the past year we have doubled in size as we have 600 murder mysteries booked this year alone.
‘Sometimes people don’t know what to expect but they can be pleasantly surprised and love them. The majority are evening events but we also do weekend events from Friday night until Sunday morning. The guests play detective, there is a form to fill out and a prize for the person who gets the most clues and guesses correctly. The inspector brings evidence out throughout the night and then the guests look for clues. Certain arguments will go on and someone may also be killed during the proceedings. My job involves co-ordinating the events and I have moved on to casting and acting as well. It is a great job.’
