Business and finance are proving a very popular career route with our A Level students. Here are the career paths that some of them are following:

Both Dan Evans and Lijko Cheriyan are studying a business and management course at Aston University, which includes a year-long placement. Dan gained a Distinction star in BTEC sport and ebusiness and an A in Business A Level. He said: 'Aston have got a really good reputation for business and I was really impressed with it when I visited. I’d say to future students just make sure you put in the work and do well because it is worth it.’

Lijko, who joined Brooke Weston in Year 12, was awarded three distinctions in ebusiness and double IT. He said: ‘The hardest one to do was IT because I literally didn’t know anything about IT when I started but as you progress you learn everything. I already have some experience as my dad is in business and I have worked with him. When I finish I might want to work in insurance or something like that.’

Ross Mulligan, who also started here in Year 12, is studying accounting and financial management at Loughborough after gaining Distinction stars in ebusiness and IT plus A and B grades in maths and media studies A Levels. He said: ‘I am happy as I like the campus, it is close to home and I like the sporting aspect as I play regional hockey.’

Daniel McGinley gained a distinction in BTEC ebusiness, and a double distinction in IT. He has deferred his place for a year to concentrate on his current retail job, however he wants to study marketing at Liverpool. He said: ‘Probably the double IT was the most difficult, purely because of the workload as it is double units in the same amount of time. I got there in the end and that is all that matters.’
