Sports Day 2014 was a huge success with students striving to gain points for their tutor group in this year’s hotly contested competition. Hundreds of Brooke Weston athletes took part in track and field events at a sunny Rockingham Triangle.
The schedule included sprint and relay races, high and long jump, discus, shot, javelin and tug of war. All 32 tutor groups from Years 7 to 10 were represented in each discipline. Scores from the day were added to those already accrued during inter-tutor competitions throughout the year. In many cases there were only a handful of points separating tutor groups. The staff race was a virtual re-run (!) of last year's event with Mr Fernandez beating Mr Costello for the second time in a row. The final results were announced in today's assembly.
Miss Stringer told the students: ‘Whether you were supporting in the stands or competing your hearts out on the track it was a triumph. The standard of what you did on the track and field was amazing as was your support for the first person across the line and, equally the last person across the line.’
After congratulating the students she presented trophies to representatives of the winning teams:
The top three scores in each year group were as follows:

Year 7: 1st R (300) 2nd N (274) 3rd T (268)
Year 8: 1st E (236) 2nd K (228) 3rd T (224)
