Congratulations to Brooke Weston’s chef, Dale Campbell who has been appointed Company Sergeant Major of the Army Cadet Force’s E Company. Dale has been involved with the Army cadets since 1989, firstly as a cadet himself and later as an instructor.
His promotion now means that he is the most senior non-Commissioned Officer in the Company and is in charge of discipline and administration.
The role lasts for three years and his area covers Oundle to Melton Mowbray with responsibility for six detachments comprising 250 cadets and 30 instructors.
Dale said: ‘I joined as a cadet in 1989, then in 1992 I got posted to Uppingham as a sergeant instructor and worked my way up through various roles. I also ran Corby detachment for about nine years. The best bit has been seeing the kids progress over the years. There have been hundreds of them and if I see them now in the street now in their 20s they still call me Sergeant!’
‘I was chuffed to bits when I got the promotion and I typically spend a couple of evenings every week and one weekend a month on cadet activities. We have our annual summer camp coming up in the summer. If anyone wants to join cadets in Corby we run detachments on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 19:00 to 21:00. Students must be aged 12 and in Year 8 to join up. For more information see the link to the website. Also we would welcome any adult volunteers who want to come along and help out.’
