Students have the chance to cast their vote in the Northants Children’s Choice Book Awards until next Friday. It is the first year that the competition has been launched and there is a short-list of three titles by authors David Walliams, Robin Benway and Jonathan Stroud. With topics revolving around spies, ghosts and even a demon dentist, there is bound to be a book that everyone wants to read and our reading groups have already been discussing them. Votes have to be cast by Friday 27th June and the winner will be announced during the Big Book Quiz on 1st July.
Award founders Juliet Walsh and Nikki Evans said: ‘We decided to have a short-list of only three titles which would be ample to satisfy the real bookworms but still not too much reading for our more steady readers. We wanted the students to decide which title deserved the prestigious title of Northamptonshire Children’s Choice Book Award 2014 so every student in each participating school will be allowed one vote. We hope you enjoy your reading and thank you for participating and voting in this event.’
Librarian Mrs Adams said: ‘Our students have all enjoyed reading these books and they are all worthy contenders so it would be fantastic if more students took part. A synopsis of each book is available on our library pages. Hopefully this will encourage them to borrow the books and cast their votes.'
