Two Sixth Formers who have been working in the library as part of their IEC project have devised a new quiz and display based around confectionery. The ‘Reading is Sweet’ quiz was written by Kapil Tyagi and Andrea Lagmay, who have both been working in the library on Wednesday afternoons. To be in with a chance of winning a prize simply complete the quiz and return it by a closing date of this Friday.
Kapil said: ‘We were given the theme and took inspiration from other quizzes online and wrote our own. We had a good time doing it and hope that others have just as much fun filling it in. I opted to do the library IEC simply because there is a variety of things to do. One week I could be organising something, the next writing a competition or creating a display. There is a great mix of things to do to keep it interesting and exciting. We have been working with various pieces of software and have an understanding of how the entire system works, including the categorisation of books and resources. Working here as part of the IEC has given us an insight into how meticulously organised the library is.’
Andrea added: ‘It has helped me to work under pressure, broaden my mind and helped me to develop different working skills on the computer. I probably like processing the books most. Last week I removed the old books and also entered new books onto the system. I have really enjoyed serving people and helping them find what they want. While I was processing books I have seen a couple of titles that I have never come across and they caught my attention, so working here has inspired me to read more and seek out new authors.’
