Thank you to all those colleagues, friends and businesses that supported the recent Race Night as a grand total of £1,370 was raised for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Head groundsman Paul Twamley will run the London Marathon on 13th April to raise more money and, if he hits his fundraising target of £4,000 before then, he has pledged to run the 26-mile course dressed as one of our colleagues, Jean from the restaurant, who is undergoing treatment for leukaemia. With two more events, a charity bag pack and Easter market in the pipeline, it looks increasingly likely that Paul will be crossing the finish line in a wig, hairnet, lipstick and skirt!
Jean and many others attended the Race Night at the Irish Centre in Corby, where Paul gave a brief presentation and everyone had a great time betting on the races and taking part in the raffle. There were lots of prizes on offer, many kindly donated by local businesses.
Afterwards Paul said: ‘Thanks to everyone who supported this event, particularly the local businesses who provided sponsorship and raffle prizes as, without them, this event would not have gone ahead.’
Thanks to the following for their support and generosity:
