Sixth Former Marko Stojakovic has been given an amazing opportunity working at Google’s London headquarters. He has secured a year-long placement at their flagship London offices after undergoing a telephone interview plus two assessments, beating off competition from hundreds of other hopefuls to be offered one of 12 apprenticeships. He will join Google’s digital marketing department selling their services to clients.
He said: ‘The job will involve persuading companies to use Google’s features such as to advertise through You Tube instead of doing TV adverts and encouraging big companies to develop Android products with Google, bringing them on board with their phone products. It is about working with clients and securing deals.’
Marko, who is studying IT and eBusiness A Levels, starts on Monday with the company, who are renowned for their laid-back office architecture and creative working environment and he already met some of his colleagues after being invited to a party at Google headquarters.
He said: ‘They have got amazing offices with ball pits, pool tables, table tennis, little rest rooms, a huge library – it is just such an amazing workplace and not like any other company. They want you to enjoy it while you are working, that makes people more productive. It is mainly quite a young workforce and it seems like a really calm but professional and hard working environment. The biggest challenge will be getting used to the change from Sixth Form to working with a world-renowned company like Google in a couple of days’ time!’
