Georgina Dimmock, the head of academic liaison at Northampton University met a select team of students who will be trialling a new skills website. The university set up the Skills Hub as an online resource for students and they asked for volunteers to evaluate the site, which has tips on study and research skills.
Now a team of six Sixth Former and two staff members are evaluating videos on the site. Ms Dimmock said: ‘They have 12 videos to review and it will probably take about half an hour per video. They will watch the film, give it a star rating and submit an anonymous comment of about three to five sentences. We want their authentic opinion and we will listen to their comments and redesign the videos as we have funding for a professional film maker to rework them. The students have also suggested that ones on note taking and time management would be helpful. They have got about a month to submit their findings, then we will rework the videos and come back later this year to gather their opinion on the updated site.'
