GCSE students took part in a dance workshop led by a professional dancer from Motionhouse prior to watching one of their productions later this month. The session was led by Alistair Stewart from the dance company. He put the students through their paces in the dance studio and the theme of the session, lasting an hour and three quarters, was performance work in pairs and groups.
Later this month the students will attend Broken, a performance by Motionhouse at The Core in Corby. The visually stunning production is billed as ‘focusing on humanity’s relationship with the earth and it combines digital imagery, music and athletic choreography to evoke both the cave dwellings of our ancient ancestors juxtaposed with glass and steel apartments of today’. The show has been touring since October and the performance, on 28 February in Corby, is one of the final opportunities to see it.
Dance teacher Mrs Duguid-Yeomans said: ‘This company is one of the most innovative and exciting dance companies on the scene at the moment, it’s a privilege to see them locally, anyone would enjoy their performances; they are a masterpiece of theatre and I can’t wait to share their work with the students.'
