Students from Years 7 to 10 saw a drama about bullying by Birmingham-based theatre company Loudmouth. The drama, which featured a series of scenarios which featured different sorts of abuse including racism, homophobia and cyber-bullying.
Afterwards Loudmouth delivered staff training and gave an evening presentation to parents covering the topics raised. Actor Rupi Lal said: ‘We tour the country educating young people on a variety of issues. It can be quite hard hitting for a lot of people but the one thing we found with these types of bullying is that unfortunately it is happening to a lot of people out there and the message of the drama is to find out ways that we can stop it or prevent it happening. The main message is developing empathy for those that are being bullied and for them to realise that it is not their fault.’
His colleague, Lily Horton added: ‘We highlight organisations that offer help and support outside of school like CEOP and ChildLine and further links and information can be found on our website.
