Congratulations to Year 10 student Nathan Brown, who has won an iPod Touch for his Twitter-style book review. Nathan submitted several reviews and his entry for The Perks of Being a Wallflower proved most popular with students and staff. Joint runners up were Judah Stephenson and Caoimhe Magee who each received Amazon vouchers for their reviews.
Nathan was presented with his prize by Miss Stringer in assembly. Librarian Mr Jones, who organised the competition, said: ‘I was very pleased with the response as we got well over 100 entries and some people submitted multiple reviews. Some were very clever and humourous and their authors obviously tweeted a lot so the format suited them. The competition was targeting students who have an opinion, and can say something funny and informed in a concise and relevant way. I thought that many of the entries were excellent and it was hard to choose a winner.’
Nathan's winning review read: 'Well, what can I say about this bad boy? I could tell you loads but you probably wouldn't get it because you're too mainstream. #WhatAPerk'
He said: 'I did it just for fun and it is a joy to win. I do read quite a lot and my favourite author is J.K. Rowling. I also use Twitter so I was at a bit of an advantage there and I tend to read a couple of books a month. It was brilliant and a real surprise to win.’
