Author Malcolm Rose is visiting Brooke Weston today to work with Year 7 and 8 students. Mr Rose, a former chemistry lecturer with the Open University has written more than 30 books and short stories and he uses his expertise in chemistry to blend science and fiction into thrillers and crime stories. One of his most recent creations has been Jordan Stryker, a bionic boy and Mr Rose will be conducting workshops with our students on forensics and medical technology.
Librarian Jamie Jones said: ‘Because of his background Mr Rose has included a lot of science in his writing, even the ones that are a bit more futuristic are based on real life science. It is going to be really exciting and different from many other author visits because of the emphasis on science rather than English. Students will also get the chance to ask lots of questions, there will be a surprise exhibit and a book signing session as well.’
