The work of Brooke Weston Sixth Formers has featured in the Autumn edition of 'Designing Magazine' which is distributed to schools, colleges and universities across the country. The double page spread showcases the final work of the Sixth Formers from the last academic year, along with the ‘risk-taking’ approach that is encouraged in the Design and Technology department.
Mr Browne said: ‘As the Year 13s had created such large scale and different pieces we wanted to publicise them to a wider audience. We approached the magazine, which is published by the Design and Technology Association, and the resulting article describes the progression made in subjects across the DT curriculum, from the Year 7 textiles to the A2 Product Designs that are pictured. It highlights our students' creativity, technical abilities and the use of the latest materials in projects tackled by all our year groups.'
In the article Mr Browne said: 'Firing students’ imagination in D & T is all abut encouraging and allowing them to take risks from a young age – to think creatively, try new ideas and not just follow the crowd. Often the most memorable and successful pieces are not necessarily the most technically competent, but those that encapsulate inspirational thinking and “personality.”’
