Year 7 students studied the flora and fauna around Brooke Weston when they took part in a session of pond dipping. They searched the pond for wildlife which was examined in detail in the classroom before being safely returned to its original habitat.
Teacher Mrs Boyce said: ‘We were studying the invertebrates in the pond and also ooked at the surrounding area. We moved some rocks and a lizard was basking underneath. We found lots of newt tadpoles but no adults in the pond but later we found them under rocks as well so the whole habitat was used and studied. It was a really successful day and the students were brilliant. I love the look on the students’ faces when they see something new that they don’t expect to see.’
