An archery club attracted about 30 students during its first after-school session. The students were instructed by Chas Wilson of Corby Archers, who will also be running two day courses during the forthcoming School Sports Week. He demonstrated the equipment and techniques to students before they were able to try it out for themselves, shooting at targets on the sports field.
Teacher Mrs Bryan said: ‘Students first got to try out archery in the School Sports Week last year and it was obviously very popular judging by the turnout that we got tonight which has been exceptional. It gives our students the opportunity to try a sport that they may not otherwise have access to and Corby Archers are hoping to attract more young people to the sport.’
Archery club runs after school on Tuesdays from 16:15 to 17:45. If you want to try the sport then come along or contact Mrs Bryan for more details.
