Year 11 student Dasha Palamarchuk is hoping to expand her modelling experience after taking part in two recent events. Dasha, who was a child model, recently took part in a catwalk show, organized and sponsored by Dancing World, modelling prom dresses in front of dozens of spectators in Northampton. She was one of the six girls shortlisted from around 100 applicants to take part in the Prom-themed show in the venue at Wellingborough Road, Northampton.
As well as modelling dresses she was interviewed by a panel of two judges: Radio 1’s Billy Locket and an editor of the Chronicle and Echo in Northampton. Billy Locket performed several of his new singles to entertain the crowd prior to the competition while guests were arriving. Dasha came second in the overall competition: ‘The stylists took about an hour to do my hair and makeup. They took photos during the event. They asked questions which were supposed to show our wit, romantic outlook and modesty; we also had to stand and pose and show off the prom dresses while being accompanied by specially invited professional male models.’
During the recent holiday Dasha did her latest modelling assignment in London: ‘I signed on with modelling agencies and they called me and asked me to do it. It was just showing off some new designs and colours on the catwalk in front of an audience of about 100.’
