Talented photographers from Year 10 are gearing up to do their GCSE examinations a year early and have been photographing natural features around Brooke Weston.
They have been given the topics ‘Rocks’ or ‘Caged’ to choose from as part of their GCSE studies and teacher Mrs Watts has been accompanying them on field trips around the site. The students comprise Connor Paterson, Kenneth Elder, Kyle McAvoy, Ashley Todd, Alessandra MacPherson, Alex Wesley, Ben Taylor, Lewis Gaziano, Luke Beale, Ben Taylor and Jack Lamont.
Kenneth Elder has a portfolio full of nature pictures: ‘I try to go out at least once a week to take different pictures as I like the process of it. For GCSE I am doing rock forms and getting really good close-ups of rocks. You have got to take a picture of the same thing from three or four different angles and take into account the colours and shapes. I digitally adjust my photographs for maximum effect and would like to have one of my pictures displayed at school.’
