Dancers from Brooke Weston received very positive feedback after taking part in the annual Kettering and District Dance show. They performed a contemporary piece to Tchaikovsky’s ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ at the Masque Theatre at Latimer School.
The 18 students, from Years 7, 8 and 9 were accompanied by Miss Bailey. It is the first time we have had students from Key Stage 3 take part in the show and they danced the same piece that they performed in the Christmas showcase concert.
Miss Bailey said: ‘It was extremely contemporary and very different, as many of the other pieces were street dance or pop. Some of the material was inspired by the frozen lake section of Matthew Bourne’s “Nutcracker” so the students performed in a colour scheme of whites, creams and greys to suggest wintry conditions. The director of the show was pleased with our piece and the feedback was very positive. The students did fabulously, they were really excited and put energy and enthusiasm into their performance.’
