Sixth Former Ryan Reilly is staging an acoustic concert to prepare for a degree course in sound engineering. He has just had an interview at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and this event is a way of increasing his experience in engineering live music.
The concert will take place on Thursday 28th February from 16:45 in the drama studio. It will feature a range of musicians and styles and will last about an hour.
Ryan said: ‘There is talent out there and everyone, from Years 7 to 13 and staff, is invited to come along. It is chilled out so people can just turn up. It gives students a chance to perform and boosts their confidence playing the music they enjoy. I will probably do the sound this time. You have to be spontaneous and quite quick to spot things and keep the feedback down to a minimum or none at all. Hopefully it will be a good night.’
Ryan wants to study sound engineering at either LIPA or Huddersfield University: ‘My ideal job would be doing live sound at festivals like Reading or Download but even if I am doing gigs locally it is fine I enjoy doing it, it is good fun.’
