Mystery, magic, adventure and poetry are just some of the themes of books offered to Year 7 students as part of this year’s Bookbuzz scheme. Each student is able to choose a free book, from a selection of 12 possible titles. Each tutor group is having a brief introduction from librarian Mr Jones who is discussing the subject matter and blurb of each book, as well as reading out a couple of opening paragraphs so students get an idea of which to select.
The books have been shortlisted by an independent panel including authors, teachers and librarians, the subsidised Bookbuzz scheme encourages reading for pleasure, independent choice and the development of a whole school reading culture.
Titles available this year include The World of Norm by Jonathan Meres, The Secrets Club by Chris Higgins and Journey to the Centre of my Brain by James Carter. Further information, competitions and quizzes can be accessed through the Bookbuzz website.
