Year 10 student Jade Ogden has received the Gold Award from the St John Ambulance’s award scheme. Jade, who has been with the organisation since the age of four, has worked her way through the junior club, Badgers, and now is a cadet in the Kettering branch.
To gain her latest award she had to complete tasks in four different subjects; crafts, animal welfare, music and first aid competitions. She has previously been awarded the bronze and silver awards and is now working towards the ultimate, the Grand Prior Award, which should take another year to attain. Her sister, Kira received the same award in 2010.
Jade, who is a cadet, said: ‘You learn a lot of first aid like cpr and do a lot of entertainment and crafts, it is not all work and no play. I have been working towards this for a year and have been on a leadership course which means I can attain these levels more quickly. I am aiming to get my Grand Prior award in a year’s time.’
