Our new Year 12 students enjoyed an afternoon of team building during their induction into the Sixth Form. The outdoor games involved blindfolded tasks, strength tests, a tug of war and an inflatable obstacle course.
The activities were intended to allow new and returning students to work on a team objective and bond as tutor groups. Nick Collyer from Fun Matters, who provided the activities, said: ‘This is an opportunity for them to work as a team, it creates new challenges for students old and new.’
Miss Cockroft said: ‘Students firstly attended a range of presentations about the courses they were interested in studying and they will now go through an interview process with a senior member of staff to assess their choices. Fun Matters did a range of interesting activities in the afternoon; the new students joined in brilliantly and communicated really well with our existing students and vice versa. They were made to feel really welcome.
It was good to see new students actively taking part rather than being a little bit reticent. I was really proud of the way all the students conducted themselves in the afternoon activities. They worked really well together and there will be an induction day shield awarded to the tutor group who was most successful.’
