Brooke Weston’s recent art exhibition showcased the best of the students’ artwork from Years 11, 12 and 13. The show, held in the Weston Theatre, featured photography, paintings and sculpture and, as well as being on view for parents on the Thursday evening, it was also visited by students and staff the following day.
Teacher Mr Procter said: ‘We were really impressed with the standard this year. We have had an absolute corker of a Year 11 group come through, they are very able and there is a lot of very realistic work this year, they are technically quite proficient and have done lots of portraits. In addition to the Year 11 artists, the Year 12 3D group really showed a step forward with some excellent glazed ceramics. A number of visitors, staff and public alike, mentioned that they thought this year's show was the most professional so far in terms of the quality of work.'
Teacher Miss Cockroft said: ‘The students all had very individual approaches which was reflected in the variety of artwork on show. The Principal’s Prize this year was awarded to Emily McClymont from Year 11 for her biro study of a pair of Converse boots. While it was very difficult for Miss Stringer to choose one winner, the care and attention to detail in Emily’s work was the deciding factor. Emily was both shocked and thrilled to receive a £50 gift card as the prize.'
