Sixth Former Felipe Bejarano has been selected as a quarter finalist in the online talent competition #searchforatwitterstar and is canvassing votes to get him through to a live contest at London’s West End.
The competition, which was launched by an anonymous Twitter user @westendproducer, attracted hundreds of entries nationwide, which have been whittled down to just 20 male and 20 female contenders. Videos of the performances including Felipe’s rendition of The Weather by Nick Blaemire, can be found on the website and members of the public can vote for their favourite. Votes can be cast through twitter or the website competition page and voting for this round of the competition closes at midnight on Friday.
The finalists will perform at the Lyric Theatre on Monday 9th July 2012 in front of a panel of industry professionals comprising musical theatre star Louise Dearman, musical director Mike Dixon, agent Gemma Lowy Hamilton and casting director Anne Vosser.
Felipe, from Year 12, said: ‘I entered the competition back in January and didn’t think any more of it until the organisers emailed me two days ago saying I was a quarter finalist! I need to get as many votes as possible before Friday in order to get through to the next round so it would be great if students and staff could support me and cast their votes as soon as possible. If people want to vote via twitter they have to just tweet ''@sfatsLIVE M16'' or alternatively they can become a member of the website below and vote on there. If they need any help voting just contact me and I will be happy to help.'
