Songs from musicals Wicked, Chicago and Avenue Q will feature in a forthcoming concert being organised by Sixth Former Felipe Bejarano. Eight performers from Years 12 and 13, accompanied by Mr Duguid on piano, will sing a range of solos and duets written by Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz and Stephen Flaherty among others.
The concert, which takes place in the drama studio on Thursday 3 May, starts at 16:15 and will last for around an hour. Felipe is organising and promoting it as part of his BTEC music course. It comes a week after Blane Chalmers and Sam Harvey arranged an after-school acoustic concert in the same venue.
Felipe, who is also studying Maths, physics and Spanish, said: ‘I am putting information out in assembly as well as on posters and on the website. Everyone, staff and students are welcome to attend and I am sure they will recognise many of the songs as they are written by some of the most talented lyricists of the past 50 years.’
