Students made hundreds of sweet and savoury goodies that proved a real success at this year’s GCSE performance concert. The Year 10s, who are studying hospitality and catering, produced a range of mouth-watering dishes including savoury scones with goats' cheese and salsa toppings, mini toad in the hole and lemon meringue pies.
They produced and served ten savoury and three sweet dishes as well as freshly squeezed lemonade and fruity cocktails and spent hours both on the day and during two practice runs to ensure that everything was perfect.
Food Technology teacher, Miss Letchet said: ‘Catering for events like this gives the students valuable experience at working under pressure to a strict deadline. They were each assigned one or two items to make and, when those were completed, they were assigned to other details such as folding the napkins or making sure the food was presented well. It really was a full day’s task, the students all worked very well together and produced some lovely food for guests and staff at the evening concert.’
