The Academy operates a fast-track two year Key Stage 3 programme which promotes active learning and allows for a richer more flexible approach to Key Stage 4 and Post 16 studies.
At Key Stage 4, students study a range of compulsory and optional subjects including English Language and English Literature, mathematics, double or triple science, modern foreign languages, geography, history, design technology, food, textiles, RE, business studies, Latin, sports studies, media, music, dance and drama.
The Academy also offers careers education and guidance, personal health and fitness and a comprehensive citizenship programme to all students in Key Stage 4.
At Key Stage 4 the opportunity exists for students to negotiate an individualised programme of study which may include fast track options, AS study or applied and vocational courses delivered both in the Academy and off-site.
At Post 16, students undertake core academic studies which consist of a group of optional subjects chosen from a selection of academic and applied courses, full details of which are given in the Academy prospectus. The subject choices are facilitated through an option framework designed to allow maximum choice and flexibility to facilitate individual choice.
In addition to core academic studies, all students are encouraged to undertake a broad range of other activities taken from two categories: Higher Studies (which consists of a combination of Extended Projects, university courses and aptitude tests) and Inspiration, Endeavour and Community (which includes art, music, drama, sporting and community or voluntary activities). Full details of these are given in the Academy prospectus.
Students who complete aspects of core studies, higher studies and inspiration, endeavour and community will be awarded the Brooke Weston Diploma.
