Introducing our Head Boy and Head Girl
One of our newest innovations has been to appoint a Head Boy and Head Girl who act as role models for their peers and who act as ambassadors for the Academy as a whole. Head Boy Shehan Retnasingam and Head Girl Liberty Luck are looking forward to the challenges of balancing not only the academic demands of their final year at Brooke Weston Academy but they are also working extremely hard to be the best heads of school they can be.
"I joined in Year 9. Brooke Weston has always been a school I wanted to join as I had heard so many good things about it. The school is outstanding and the support that you have available from teachers, staff and fellow students is invaluable. There are many opportunities available with the IEC programme, which has enabled me to mentor students in Year 11, something I have found extremely rewarding."
Student voice is of great importance to us at Brooke Weston and the role has helped Shehan and Liberty to get to know both staff and students much better.
They are supporting the school by representing the student body at events such as parents evenings, open week, and the annual prize giving ceremony. Taking the lead in organising student socials and fundraising towards the end of year ball, Shehan and Liberty have increased the community feel of a vibrant and aspirational Sixth Form.
"I joined Brooke Weston in Year 12. As an external student joining Brooke Weston I was very apprehensive, however there was no need to be as I soon settled in. The support that I gained from my teachers and other staff was remarkable. Brooke Weston's aura is effulgent and I would highly recommend the school to anyone."
