Core Subjects (19 lessons per week)
English (4 lessons per week)
GCSE English Language with GCSE English Literature.
All students will pursue a course leading to two GCSEs in English.
Mathematics (4 lessons per week)
All students will pursue a course leading to one GCSE in mathematics. (Those students aiming for an A* will have the opportunity to pursue a course in ‘Additional Maths’ alongside their mathematics GCSE).
Science (4 lessons per week)
All students will study combined science (2 GCSEs), unless they opt for the separate sciences in biology, chemistry and physics (3 GCSEs and one of the option selections).
Personal Health and Fitness (1 lesson per week)
All students are expected to follow an individualised programme of physical education. This will be negotiated between the students and their teacher.
Humanities (3 lessons per week)
Students will continue studying the geography or history GCSE they selected in Year 9.
Modern Foreign Languages (3 lessons per week)
Students will continue studying either French, German or Spanish as in the previous year.
Optional Subjects (6 lessons per week)
There is a wide and varied choice of optional subjects available to students covering the arts, languages, humanities-based subjects, business-related subjects, sports studies and creative-based options. These courses are all offered at GCSE or equivalent level, being taught in two lessons per week.
